Mission
The Waco Bicycle Club is a non-profit
organization whose mission is to promote and service the cycling needs of the
McLennan county area. Each year the WBC works hard to reach out to local
schools, churches, and community organizations in an effort to promote the
sport and get individuals excited about cycling.
Philanthropy / Community
As a philanthropic organization the club
regularly works to help raise / donate money to charitable organizations such
as the Safe Kids Coalition, Campfire Boys and Girls Club, Texas Bicycle
Coalition, United Cerebral Palsy, National Marrow Donor Program, Lone Star
Circle of Life Donor Institute, Mother
Neff State Park, and the Waco
Park Ranger Service.
As an organization dedicated to community,
our members spend hundreds of hours working to improve our local
parks--building trails, making signs, constructing trailhead features, and
picking up litter. The WBC regularly puts on bicycle camps for kids. Through
community fairs and events, the club distributes helmets, bikes, teaches
bicycle safety, and acts as a general ambassador. To date, the WBC has
distributed over 100 bicycles and 150 helmets.
Competitive Sport
The Waco Bicycle Club is also very active
in competitive sport. Team WBC members compete in USCF and NORBA sanctioned
events throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Team members race in every
event in the Subaru Championship Series, Festina Cup Championship Series, and
also participate in many of the 90+ USCF sanctioned venues as well as several
of the 150+ Texas Tours. The Waco Bicycle Club is privileged to have a UCI
Masters World Champion, a NORBA National Champion, a NORBA ranked
professional woman, and several TMBRA Championship Series winners among its
membership. In addition, the team mechanic for the professional mountain
biking team Gary Fisher/Subaru resides right here in and is an active member.
