A 10-mile family friendly route goes through beautiful Cameron Park and downtown Waco. There are several rest stops to make it a fun ride for all. The 25-mile route is also fun for families and recreational riders. This route is quite flat and passes by the Lake Waco Dam and the peaceful surrounding countryside. The 50 & 65-mile routes are relatively flat with a few challenging hills thrown in to keep you from getting bored! The 100-mile Presidential Tour takes riders on scenic roads throughout McLennan County. It passes by the Western White House, and through the oldest state park in Texas, Mother Neff Park. Although fairly flat, there are some hills to get your heart pumping! Again this year, the 50, 65 and 100-mile routes feature a rest stop at the Masterfoods USA candy factory, home of Skittles®.
Packet pickup and registration will take place at the Waco Convention Center in the Texas Room, located at Washington and University Parks Dr., from 3 - 9 p.m. A pre-ride party will be held at the Waco Convention Center on Friday evening from 6 – 9 p.m. There will be exhibits and items available for purchase. Complimentary drinks and light snacks will be provided. A pre-ride carbo loading dinner will also be served from 6 - 9 p.m. The dinner will include spaghetti, salad, bread and tea. Adult all-you-can-eat price is $7. Kids 10 and under $4.
Packet pickup begins at Indian Spring Park at 6:30 a.m. We'll be cooking up a delicious pancake breakfast from 6:30 - 9 a.m. for a mere $4/person. After the ride, food vendors will be available onsite or enjoy one of the many restaurants in downtown Waco. And you could do a good deed and perhaps save a life. Join the National Bone Marrow Registry Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Indian Spring Park. Just takes a finger prick - it doesn’t keep you from riding!
Rest stops will be located every 10 to 15 miles. Most will be equipped with porta-potties. All will have yummy snacks and cool drinks. Community groups plan their themes and staff the rest stops, with the chance of winning a cash prize for the "best" rest stop. If you see one you really like, tell us at the end of the ride. And, yes, we still have the famous rest stop at the MasterfoodsUSA candy factory on the 50, 65 and 100 mile routes. Sag vehicles will be patrolling the course. Please be prepared to fix your own flats. Sags will help with minor repairs and transport tired riders and broken bikes back to Indian Spring Park. Helmets are required on this ride, and riders are required to obey all traffic laws.
The Waco Wild West Century is held each year to promote bicycling, bicycling safety, provide a fun family oriented activity and to support several area charities. Charities supported by this ride include the Cerebral Palsy Children's Camp, Texas Bicycle Coalition, Mother Neff State Park, National Bone Marrow Registry, Cameron Park Bike Trails and other worthy causes. The WWWC is a non-profit organization. Your participation helps us achieve our mission. We hope you enjoy the event and have a safe ride.
